Upon installing and activating the Begnas theme, you may create different pages based on the website you want to design.
As an example, we will create the About Us page using the Begnas theme.
Step 1: Create a New Page #
To create a new page on your WordPress website, follow these steps:
- Click on All Pages on the left menu bar of your WordPress Dashboard.
- Click on the Add New Page button.
- In the Gutenberg Page Editor, enter the title of your page in the field labeled “Add Title” (e.g., “About Us“).
- Click on the Publish button located at the top right of the page editor.
- Once you have published the page, you can preview it by clicking on the View Page button that appears.
Step 2: Add Content to the Page #
To add content to your WordPress page, you can insert blocks or patterns provided by WordPress Core, themes, and plugins. We will discuss this in greater detail in another article. For now, here’s the most common way to do it:
- Click the plus (+) icon located at the top left side of the page editor.
- Select either the Blocks or Patterns tab depending on your preferences.
- To add a block, click on any block from the list.
- For patterns, choose a category from the list and click on the pattern you like.
If you’re using the Begnas theme, you can add an About Us pattern to create a complete About Us page.
Step 3: Selecting the appropriate template for the page. #
If you want to change the look of your webpage, you can choose from different templates provided by the theme. Some examples of templates are fixed-width centered layout, sidebar layout, page without title, canvas layout, and full-width layout. If you want to change the default template, follow these steps:
- Go to the Page tab located in the Settings panel on the right-hand side of the editor.
- Click the Pages link located beside the Template option under the Summary toggle title.
- A new dialog box will open, and from the dropdown menu, you can change the template to your preference. For example, if you choose the Canvas with Header and Footer template in the Begnas theme, the page header and spaces (padding) inside the content area will disappear.
- Click on the Update button.
- Click the Arrow icon near the Update button to view changes.
